Kaspersky gives US customers six months of free updates as a parting gift (theregister.com)

Kaspersky is a really talented group.

Their talk at CCC about discovering a zero-click attack, managing to capture all the stages of the attack, finding four zero day vulnerabilities and discovering a previously unknown spyware that was there for years was a rollercoaster of a ride.

If you have the time to watch it I highly recommend it!

Call me paranoid but seems like if Kaspersky is indeed dodgy this would be a great way to get as much info/access as possible on the way out.

Agreed, AV has full access to your system and can take whatever they want and you'd never know.

I don't understand how the 6 months updates will work if they're prevented from updating the software after September 29.
