In biology, being amenable to reductionist explanations is an evolvability trait. Repeating building blocks can be re-used, combined and repurposed with small changes. That's the fundamental reason why so much in biology does make some sense. On the other hand, we are of course biased towards understanding things that are easy to understand. Who knows how many things are overlooked because they're just too messy!
