Reductionism is useful because we need to find manageable pieces of the system so we can model it, and manipulate it. Without reductionism we wouldn't have modern medicine.

It is important to acknowledge tho that it can never produce the whole story. There's nothing wrong with it. It's just not sufficient for a complete understanding.
