> How many people died in car accidents the last few days?

Car accidents (not involving anyone of note) sadly aren’t novel or newsworthy anymore. A submarine, with people potentially trapped onboard, with limited oxygen, as rescue teams race to the dive site, unfolding in real-time, isn’t exactly something that happens that often.

Add an eccentric CEO operating against everyone's advice, some rich passangers, and it's a dream for the media.

You don't have to bring politics into every piece of news that happens.

first political post I've ever made on this site, and tbh not really political its factual information about a politician - its been a bad news week for Biden

Oh yeah. The media. How convenient. Nobody would have an interest in this if it wasn't for "the media" pushing for a story.

It's a dream for the media because it interests people.

Not everything has to be a conspiracy.

It is literally dream scenario for both media and people.

People are intrigued by the unknown, that is, by not knowing what happened to those people and leaving the space open for ideas, conjecture and reasoning. The hype around this case reminds me of that of the disappearance of flight MH370, where there were no celebrities on board.

In contrast, in a traffic accident you almost always know right from the start what happened.

At the scene of the Titanic. No small feat. If two people had gotten married there, it could make the news for a while.
