Elon Musk turns Twitter into 'hotel' for staff (bbc.com)

I honestly would have expected something more eccentric, high tech and more practical from Elon. I envision the High Tech Mini-Hotels in Japan that are somewhat sound-proof, have dimable LED mood lighting, Bluetooth/Internet stations, Self-Serve mini bar with semi-healthy food snacks.

In the same size room one could put a 2 person king sized bed, there might be 10 to 20 Mini-Hotel sound-proof pods so people can get some deep sleep. Wake up refreshed and you have a multi-screen console with direct access to the network based on your employee access profile. No commute to your desk. Actually, get rid of the desk and especially get rid of bull-pens. Convert all C-Level offices into aerobic gyms.

Fridays, are casual Pajama days

If I was younger/didn't have a family to support I would have loved having a sleep pod in the city. You can go out friday night and party and then get back to your pod.

Or, if you will, 'barracks'.

Frankly, the "bedroom" pictured in the BBC article looks somewhat offputting, like from a middle class hotel that deferred infrastructure investments since the late 90s.

If you want to make your employees feel at home at work, you might want things to look nice instead of just ticking off some boxes on some list (bed - check, nightstand - check, etc.)

A place I worked at some time ago had a few bedrooms for people who needed to work late into the night. Not abnormal as long as its optional

employees can work from home now - where home IS the office

Party like it's 1999.
