Did I read this article wrong? Are hands a metaphor for something? A lot of people can't and/or eventually won't be able to use their hands. This was as true in 2011 as it is now.
Are the "pictures under glass" interfaces critiqued in the article really any better for those who cannot use their hands? I have full use of my hands, so I am not sure, but the few people I know with limited hand control use some specialized input device that they can operate with their mouth, eyes, or head.
