Freedom and Privacy are tightly coupled. One cannot truly be free if one's every action is monitored or manipulated. That is why the right to privacy was recognized by the US Supreme Court as inferred from the First, Fourth, and Fourteenth Amendments even though privacy was never mentioned in the Constitution.
