That's semantically difficult to say, i've seen it in other comments, too, self is not used in the correct frame of reference: The individual parts' self is irrelevant; yet you claim, they are not self aware; when you imply the part's weren't aware of the whole ('s self), you switch frame of reference. The self of the sum of the parts are just the parts. Indeed the parts are the awareness. The whole might be aware of the self of each individual part, but for that to be true, contrary to your statement, each individual part doesn't need to be aware of itself (it might as well code for some other part or whatever).
