OP also says "This would be a valid concern if..." so, no need to defend these poor massive businesses who also screwed us with shrinkflation for five years.

Yeah, that was quite a claim. I didn't realize that businesses were were so altruistic?

Why those particular five years and not always?

comment made me think! I'm old so this was true since youtube didn't get big until i was in my 30s, so maybe it is a good thing :)

I can go on Gemini, claude, mistral, (and even chatgpt) for free (even through a VPN), so they are definitely not profitable for me as they are not getting anything from me. are you saying subscriptions are subsidizing me?

They’re getting data from you which is quite valuable.

Google search is also free to use

because they have ads. gemini doesn't have ads AFAIK

you are the product :)

Spitballing here, why not shred these clothes as filler for insulation instead of literally burning them? PFAS and fiber inconsistencies as these clothes are probably a hodgepodge of all sorts of chemicals, so they probably need to be characterized. I think chemical recycling is also being looked into.

Modern insulation is likely several times more efficient (R-value) than shredded polyester and cotton.

I think looking at the top 5% of wealth, not just taxpayers, may open up the conversation on both sides

Agreed, I'd make the same argument as parent for a Harley. It's not my cup of tea, loud, impractical, and a gas guzzler, but it clearly appeals to a bunch of people. Give things a chance for goodness sake. Aptera never claimed you don't need to charge.

But Anthropic is a French company isn’t that in the EU

Anthropic is not French. You probably meant Mistral, that is a French company, but a niche player in this AI game.

No it's American, you probably confuse them with Mistral AI.

Oh wow thank you yes I did

I’ve been away from this space for about a year - is Claude still better at coding tasks?

OpenAI's models in my experience are just as good at coding now. But it may depend a lot on the language and task? I'm not sure. I haven't been writing a ton of code lately.

My issue is more with the CDC. Are there state institutions that can take up the slack locally? Asking for a friend with kids who wants to move to a place with a lower risk of getting measles

If there is a new pandemic soon we will see it without any question. Hurricanes were redirected on a whim.
