UV-to-red light converting films accelerate plant growth, could help improve global food supply issues

Big pinball fan and collector. This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while

Vertical indoor farming is the paradigm shift we’ve been waiting for. Thanks in part to advances in LED lighting efficiency and cost. Much more land and water efficient.

Under the scenario mentioned (supply-chain disruption), vertical farming might prove somewhat less productive than you envision.

There’s plenty to do for vertical outdoor farming right now, especially in constrained circumstances.

vertical farming makes no sence : you are loosing 90% of energy converting light into electricity and back into light for the plants, or you are burning fuel.

Normal greenhouses are much simpler, more efficient and have been in use for decades. They make full use of the sun.

NextDNS , highly recommended.

Yes this and also some states are highly over taxed / priced so people are willing to pay competitive street prices in blind faith.

Am I the only one surprised these FB & Apple NSO lawsuits are just now happening?

Perhaps it just takes times to build a case for court?

The Facebook lawsuit is older, hence why you are reading the judgement on an appeal of an appeal or something in that order. The timing on the Apple lawsuit is probably no accident; now that this "foreign state actor immunity" fig leaf is out of the way, the original lawsuit can proceed full speed ahead and is likely going to be fatal to NSO. I wouldn't be surprised if any victims of theirs similarly sue them.

ProPublica should probably get credit. Even if the companies knew before their reporting, the publicity surely spurred them to act.

It seems to me that this is the sort of thing that is sorted out between governments first - diplomatically. I am certain the lines between the NSO Group and the Israeli govt are pretty blurry considering they came out of the Israeli Intelligence Corps. If it weren’t an ally this would almost certainly be considered nation state actor activity eg Internet Research Agency.

NextDNS offers “ Native Tracking Protection “ Which is currently in BETA. … “Block wide spectrum trackers — often operating at the operating system level — that track your activity on a device. This could include all the websites you visit, everything you type or your location at all times.”

Wow, thanks for sharing this.

I’ve seen a huge demand for houseplants in the States but New Zealand is taking it to the next level! Its Tulip mania all over again haha.

I’ve been looking at the Garmin Tactix Delta Solar watch, hoping it goes on sale this season. Anyone own this watch?

Please support your local orchards if possible!

The apples you find in stores don’t even compare to some of the unique cultivars you can find at many orchards

A big part of this is that a lot of varieties don't travel well.

But commercial apples like ambrosia and honeycrisp do and are pretty tasty. Ubiquity of red delicious is sort of baffling.

There's also a huge chunk of the country where apples don't grow well due to lack of sufficient freeze.

Visiting orchards in Autumn was a fun annual tradition when I lived in the Northern US. The whole fam would enjoy those days together picking apples. No orchards nearby this part of Texas, though.

I live very close to where the Honeycrisp was developed, and sadly I don't frequent them or the other local orchards as much as I should.
