> I've seen posts with 3pts get into the Top 10 for whatever reason
I always thought it was to inject more freshness into the front page, and that certain 'authentic' users (no single-domain or all-the-things upvoters) had the power to lend more credibility to a new submission.
Why does the colour matter? Indians are varied in colour. I took the extra information to be a point of reference with regards to the reward of $10,080: that is a hefty sum for local IT workers in that country. Good on that person.
> we're not all xenophobic Trump supporters, not even most of us.
Please, leave your virtue-signalling to reddit. We come here for a break from the partisan poo-throwing.
As an aside, the article is about China, which, like much of Asia, isn't that welcoming of outsiders. In even the most die-hard 'conservative' circles, you can become an 'honorary' Texan/American/whatever and be privy to all dealings and goings-on, but it's really, really hard to do the same in China (especially if you're black or white, and doubly so if your mandarin isn't native). You just won't get into many circles.
I leave with this: the US election, to an outsider like myself, is interesting in that many Americans claim any supporters of the other candidate must support their platform 100%. Such an ignorant view. Some people choose Trump for trade, some choose Hillary for a no-surprises, effective office from day 1 (whether or not they see themselves agreeing with the results of her work).
There will be community-driven pattern sharing. If a pattern gets 3 'plus' votes, it goes to a mod/admin who approves it for distribution to everyone.
I don't mind ads though. Static ads after the first paragraph, with a minimal-size fetch (or, upon sensing prolonged reading on a second article, pre-cached and bidded out during that user's reading) will ensure a snappy experience.
I'm wondering the same. Of you look at the books being listed in this thread, though, it's apparent there is little fiction or other material to truly savour: everything is skim-friendly.
You could probably get through one of these a week while on the elliptical or during your commute.
I wish people would qualify their posts with relationship status and employment type. If you have a partner whom you value, and are in the formative months (pre-alpha) of a start-up as a main developer (or hybrid, or one-man operation), is it really beneficial for so much new information to be making its way into your head?
An opinionated framework allows you to just get on with things! Like with programming. Finally deciding on a JS stack is one of the best feelings you'll have. The terror of even dishing out cursory glances toward the next shiny thing... yikes.
"I don't eat sugar this month" is very easy to announce internally. Also, once you have ticked off a few days, continued adherence is much easier.
Fasting != intermittent fasting. You're not abstaining for weeks.
A meal can take take 24 hours or longer to digest (especially when it's a 'feast').
It's not unusual for people to gain weight during Ramadan (they don't break their' fast' with green pea soup).
If it's your first day (of your life) adjusting your food intake pattern, maybe there is a performance hit.
I'm not Muslim but I fast for fitness reasons much of the year. More focus, more strength, euphoria.
Eating takes a lot of energy. I now work for myself but when I was at a multinational finance company, I could see the post-lunch drain bring down 90% of people on my floor.
I would be worried about the pilot that ate three slices of pizza before getting on the plane!
