Indeed, this will be important going forward. Living in EU, with local laws (denmark) being what they are. I hope the conclusion of this suit, will be similar to our laws that state: Any contract signed, that through its terms, makes you relinquish your state-afforded rights. Is by definition void.

Example of a void contract: When Buying a used car, Salesmen makes you sign a contract: "No warranty nor cancelation of contract possible after purchase".

Mmhhh, is it so strong?

I guess what is void is that specific clause. Otherwise, any vendor could include a clause saying "you relinquish some rights" just in the middle of the text and, after the fact, claim that the contract was void and require you to return an item (say, a car).

So, I guess you mean that specific clause?

In German law that would, as a default, actually make the whole contract void, yes. Many contracts therefore contain a clause that hedges against that situation (i.e. something like "if one or more of these items is found void, the rest still applies")

Specifically, the idea of a voided clause voiding the entire contract is sometimes a feature -- severability is not always desired. A simplistic example would be a contract with two clauses, one specifying that A sends B widgets, and the other specifying that B sends A money. You would not want those to clauses to be severable.

The legal term for this is "severability clause": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Severability ("salvatorische Klausel" in German)

I believe this is how it typicaly works. At least the few laws I've read (Finnish law) voids the offending clauses, not the entire contract.

This is very cool, glad to see an opensource version of brick building. As a Dane (Lego's Danish), I'm impressed that you manage to navigate the numerous pitfalls with copyright infringement and the like.

Also glad to see it being GPLv2 licensed.

Hm still their logo is used in one of the model screenshots. I cannot imagine this will be tolerated.

He's pretty much the single most scary philanthropist and possibly influence on our future, judging from these past 6 months.

Based on his talks of: Worldwide chip tracking of disease. Destroying encryption worldwide.

What exactly do you mean by chip tracking?

During Bill Gates reddit AMA, he was proposing the idea, even concluding that it would be a necessity to have travel go back to normal. That we have microchips embeded, that store our "public information", such as viral infection and vaccination status.

I say that it quotations, because i do not believe it is the governments place nor right, to make public, crucial medical data about individuals. In a perfect system, without breaches of security, sure, but that is not the real world.

Okay? Do you have a link? Because his foundation has denied it and several organizations have done a fact check on it, finding no evidence. https://www.bbc.com/news/52847648

Can't we just use smartphones or passports for it? Although implanted chips would solve quite a few humanity problems (and create more power for authoritarian nations).

Also I don't believe dangerous people should have all sort of rights to privacy. We already ask pedos to introduce themselves to neighbours (at least in movies), why shouldn't same apply for deadly viruses? I guess this forum is frequented by too many Californians where knowingly giving someone AIDS is not a crime anymore.

Sucks if you dont have a phone. Sucks if you cant read.. etc.. There are some requirements you are expected to meet.

Buying a product online and replacing online requires some kind of wiretransfer. Creditcard or Payment card is the solution for all your woes. Don't fret.

Except it entirely doesn't: I've exchanged a faulty $3,000 camera on Amazon and they overnighted the replacement, and said that if I didn't return the faulty one within 30 days they'd charge me. They didn't pre-auth or hold funds.

Dish waits a month after I send back their DVR before even attempting to charge me for non return.

On warranty goods, when you are close to the richest company on the planet, "holding" customer funds on faulty warranty replacements is asinine and not at all "customer-centric".

Personally, I am unaffected. It makes this no less satisfactory.

Have not had this issue, after daily use since release.

Was rudely interupted half-way through the article. Shame i wasnt allowed to finish reading it due to overlays upon overlays.

I honestly thought this was common knowledge.

Not much different that what you're doing right now ...

Nice try, but no. Criticizing someone is not throwing tantrum, really.

Attention is one thing. What scares and frustrates me is censoring by banning accounts, removing post, and to a lesser degree echochamber downvoting hidding the content.
