I mean given the level of international travel, putting a quarantine in place 2-3 months after the start of it seems like gross incompetence.

i think that happened way before when this article was published in 2017.

I mean the problem being described has nothing to do with US sales though. I'm sure if people ask for the time in London, 99% of they mean London UK irrespective of whether they are US based.

I've seen this topic touched on a few times recently but i feel like there is a major flaw in a the assumption that the current pandemic related loneliness/isolation can be compared to more traditional forms of loneliness/isolation.

Traditionally lonely people don't have anyone to communicate with, people in lockdown do have people to communicate with but now have to do it remotely, just doesn't seem comparable to me.

Speaking for my friendship group that is extremely socially active normally, everyone seems to have happily moved to social media and zoom drinking sessions with little ill effects.

There are tons of Teslas around my area in London. One every Street i would say, about the same level of Porsche.

>1) Difficult/unpredictable/uncontrollable customer retention

I don't think this is the case in a lot of WeWorks anymore, i work in a WeWork and the majority of companies are now bigger corporates.

Goldman Sachs just took 2 floors in the WeWork next to us.

It's actually quite hard to find a largeish Co-Working space in London as it moves so quickly and so much space is being taken by corporates buying entire floors.

One WeWork in London (125 Shaftesbury Avenue) even "closed" to the public as Facebook leased out the entire facility.

As far as I can tell, WeWork is not really a coworking business. It's a large-scale office space leasing business that uses coworking as advertising.

Well they did release their Coffee Lake generation chip after they already new about the exploit.

Now i know it would take a lot for a major company to delay/cancel a release like that, but i think it could be argued that they were dishonest if they knew it would have a performance impact.

They would have had to delay it for a year or more.

So the decision was, go ahead and release it even though we know it's vulnerable because we'll make more money that way than we would if we took the time to fix it and make it secure?

If so, I hope the market punishes that decision mercilessly.

To be fair, Coffee Lake is presumably faster/better and not more vulnerable than other chips [0]. If you have to mitigate anyway, and you're desperate to get back to pre-mitigation performance parity, releasing a faster chip that still requires mitigation could be a reasonable option.

[0] Caveat: Skylake and later are extra-vulnerable to Spectre because they have even more aggressive speculative execution, but fortunately, the IBRS microcode update is roughly equally performant as retpoline on Skylake+ only.

What? No, that's not even remotely how it works. Not releasing Coffee Lake when it was ready would not have sped up the design of a new CPU which fixes Meltdown in any way. The only way that not shipping Coffee Lake would have helped anyone is by indirectly increasing sales of AMD processors.

Well, Intel sales are going to drop off a cliff, and might not entirely be made up once a "fixed" version comes out.

Ours (kasko.io) seems to be working again on both ns-a2 and ns-a4

If you put a password on the Authy backup then it cannot be restored without that.

This should be the default really.

Another default should be PIN enabled.

I got called by these guys last month. It was immediately obvious something was amiss as the line quality was absolutely dreadful, like virtually inaudible.

The lady on the other end said i had been identified as someone from TalkTalk who would be having problems with my internet speed and they could help.

She then asked me what OS i run, when i said OS X she hung up.
