After learning about Hamming code (the predecessor of Reed-Solomon), I wrote a tutorial that explains Hamming code and how to implement it in a simple simulator. https://manuelfi.com/blog/hamming-code-simulator/

Hi major, I just read your post and its great, thank you, it really has inspired me to learn more on erasure codes. I only have one doubt: in the Example Problem, I understand the 4th parity bit should be the 8th position (starting the first at 1), however you placed it in the 9th position, and I think this is the reason why (according to me) in the 2nd parity check the bit should be 1 instead of 0, however your answer was still right, so could you tell me what is the correct place for the 4th parity bit?

Question: I applied three weeks ago to the Backend Developer role. Can I still do the engineering challenge on Github?

Happy to take a look, but to do so, I'd need the email address that you applied with. Mind sending an email to workhere at Refersion?

Was there a particular type of company that you were applying to? Was your freelancing work on the front- or back-end?

I've worked for small mom and pop shops to national banks to everything in between - and my freelance is full stack (back, front, + server)

Everyone appreciated the time spent outside of the day job and most always found those projects more interesting then what I was hired to do - as they usually are - corporate work can be boring most of the time; freelance is where i can "show off"

Would anyone be interested in starting a group for rejected apps? I think we could all use this mishap as a motivational boost.

I got a Discord server for us, let's get over there, share some jokes: https://discord.gg/36jp8H

can we start a slack channel and Audit as a group? co-advise each other. we can call it

"the Slacker Start Up school for Start Ups that Can't Read Good and Want to Do Other Stuff Good Too"

Created https://chat.dog/startup-school to follow Startup School over the next few weeks!

Hi Adora. I signed up and got a 500 Internal Server Error after registering. I didn't get a confirmation email, and when I requested a resend, I receive the same error.

Sorry about this. Can you send us an email to software@ycombinator.com with the details?

The email confirmation resending seems to be working now. Thanks!
