Same here, I've found too many bugs in Proton's email client and instead of fixing them they just release new products. FastMail support has been great, I think the developers themselves reply (some of the?) emails, going into technical details and being actually helpful.
Perhaps https://zorin.com/os/ might be a nice distro for your customers. It has 2 UI options: one that is close to macOS and one that looks more like Windows.
I’ve been having the same idea for a while. I think it would be a great way to let them prioritize the stability a bit more by publicly displaying how shamefully the UI behaves.
Interested in collaborating on this? Perhaps a simple open-source static blog built with Astro?
I used to love Proton, but they focus too much on feature development instead of stability and fixing long-standing bugs. E.g. zooming has been broken for years in ProtonMail on iOS. Some emails won’t even render at all :(
Yup, i quit Proton (Mail) for the same reason. I had been using it for a long time…
There are so many little bugs and annoyances, it’s frustrating to see new features being released all the time while obvious bugs and shortcomings are not fixed.
It was a very big relief going back to a normal email client.
I still support Proton (i pay for Proton VPN) and hope they will succeed in their mission.
I remember years ago I lost some random videos on iCloud (synced via the Photos app). The filenames were there but they couldn't be opened anymore and seemed corrupt. Since then I never trusted iCloud anymore and switched to Syncthing (which back then also messed up some of my data if I recall correctly) and then Nextcloud.
I thought it was just me until someone mentioned this on HN
