Autocomplete for CLI apps, gui for directory changes, just quality of life things.

Hmm I'm curious. What does "gui" mean? It yanked you out of the command line in a browser or finder?

And was this autocomplete server based or happened locally and privately?

It added a correctly positioned autocomplete list in front of the cursor in almost any terminal app.

The core server was local, its two most used features were directory, and CLI arguments autocomplete.

There’s a “How many people do you shop for” button.

Yes but that assumes that you eat the exact same ratio and quantity as your 4 year old child, for example.

Sometimes it feels like my 4 year old eats more than me. The ratios are definitely different though.

It isn’t telling you how many calories you consumed. It’s just insights into the nutrition from the food you consume.

And that's key. Calories are important, but most people will naturally eat less calories as they shift from carbs+sugar to foods with higher protein and fiber content.

That is an example. Correct. What’s the issue?

Without sounding overly pessimistic, but I have the opinion that copyright laws were written and developed in a different era.

Finical interests, not the public’s, are to blame for the overly restrictive copyright laws.

The original US copyright law was 14 years with a 14-year extension if the author was still alive. Certainly financial interest (Disney) is to blame for that incrementally becoming 70 years after the death of the author.

Unless I misunderstand what you are says, I'm pretty sure we had libraries throughout history.

It doesn’t seem to listen to other languages besides English.

I tried Spanish and Portuguese (Br).

It thought pedir (to request) was a flavor.

I also asked for bread, water, and cheese and only responded with Bubble tea.

I waited almost 30~ seconds after ordering, to find out it didn’t hear my original request. Might suggest shortening the retry.

It only supports English now. Our log shows the conversation ended when the assistant ask you for modifications, did you hear that message?

Yes, but from my point of view I had to speak my request twice before the AI responded.

I thought it was thinking, but it was a very long delay between pauses.

I like the idea, don’t want to come across as negative!

Thanks for the feedback. We do notice the AI feels a little bit slow for the first round of conversation, but we also notice once you get used to the pace of the AI, the conversation will become more smooth. We have added some improvements, please give it another try, and looking forward to your feedback!

You’re saying that gamification is bad, and yet you hit a 2500 day streak. I would say, for what it’s worth, the gamification effects worked.

Twee gamification.

At the start of that (2016, and indeed before as the streak didn't begin with me signing up), the gamification wasn't actively getting in the way. At some point in or around late 2019 or early 2020, it became faster to quit the app and restart it than to wait for the end of lesson congratulations screen to finish, I felt insulted by the childish animations (and that the only way to switch them off on iOS was a system-wide accessibility feature which merely reduced them!), and when the transition from tree to path happened I had to motivate myself with the goal of the round number streak length just to get past what had become for me an actively demotivating experience.

I moved to Berlin in late 2018 with the intention of it being permanent, so German skills aren't optional for me.

I’ve never read that letter before. The second half is pretty surreal.

Is that even a shortcut? I would have a hard time remembering that, compared to cmd + v.

Most catchy phrases can’t acutely articulate the meaning behind the message. People who argue to “defund the police” also mean use the funds meant to be distributed to the police force to other services that serve the same role, in a less harmful manner. But that messaging doesn’t stick as easily.

I think you'll find a lot of people who say "defund the police" quite literally mean it. Why do you need armed individuals with qualified immunity out there performing wellness checks, guiding traffic, taking statements, and doing investigative work? Why should these roles continue to fall under "the police"? And especially why should they continue to be done by an organization that continues to show just how disastrously poor they are at such things, when at least any other organization would at least start at zero, not negative?

The funds should quite literally be taken from the police and given to other organizations, even newly-created ones, that do not suffer from the baggage and the history of the police.

I’ve had to do a lot of my rides indoors due to the Seattle weather and drivers. There are times I don’t feel safe riding outside due to the lack of infrastructure.

This is coming from someone who logs 200 miles outdoors in the summer.

I’ve known plenty of people who will ask 1,000 questions about lifting before ever going to the gym. I think this app is great for people who are just getting into it, and want something that feels like a definitive answer.

Im sure after a few months of this, you’ll find better information on how to progress, but I’d recommend this to anyone texting me “hey what should I do at the gym.”
