My buddy has a non-cancerous brain tumor but it often plays with his hormones and causes his eye to bulge and lose vision so they can be quite nasty even without cancer. The medicine to keep it from growing also makes you lethargic and asexual. That's why I was curious. It can be rough on a person

Well, mostly. I seem to recall that she had a recurrence about a year ago or so (pre-edit, 2019 specifically per her wiki page, I'm getting old). But I've been watching her for a while and she seems to still be active and making good videos, so yeah good news I reckon.

That scientists, doing basic research with partners overseas, are somehow implicated in China's surveillance ploy is disheartening. With that being said, an immediate solution is unclear to me. Certainly foreign scientists shouldn't stop collaborating with Chinese scientists. And, frankly, I'm not entirely certain whether Chinese scientists are wittingly cooperating with their totalitarian government. If they are, then sigh. Yet, if they aren't, then, well, sigh again.

Enjoyed her IAS lecture on Emmy Noether's laws. She's incredibly fun to watch. Well deserved. Congratulations, Karen.

Really great representation of the enormity of the our solar system (and the universe)

Yeah, no doubt.

I was blown away after seeing a scale model solar system on the U Colorado Boulder campus.

The tiny size of the planets relative to the distance of the orbits is mind-blowing, especially the outer planets. It's almost amazing we're able to see the planets so well with the naked eye from Earth through just their own passive reflection of sunlight.
